Spring season opener
06 March 2008
Of the four RCFC teams, only the Coed was able to achieve a win (well sort of). Their 4-0 lead was ended at halftime on Tuesday evening when the ref decided the rain was too much - match will be rescheduled. The other teams didn't do so well. The Open team had a double loss: a 3-0 defeat and keeper, Gonzalo Bearman, is out for the rest of the season due to a bad injury.

Open Indoor regains championship

The men's open indoor team lifted another indoor championship at RISE. This is the 3rd championship in the last 4 seasons.
Copa Navidad

The club's 3rd annual Copa Navidad was attended by about 30 players. The event consists of a indoor match, and donations to the USSF Passback program:
Here is the list of donations (sung to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas!!) :
- 11 soccer balls
- 10 pairs of soccer shoes
- 10 pairs of shin guards
- 12 pairs of socks
- 2 shirts
- 7 pairs of shorts
- 1 coach's drawing board
- and a referee's whistle!!!

Indoor team win championship

The men's indoor team won the open division title for the 2nd time this year. They achieved this with a 8-0-0 performance.

City in state tournament

City competed in the MDCVSA State Cup over Labor Day weekend, but could only achieve 1-0-2 with a team short on subs. It was a good pre-season training especially in 100 degree heat. Thanks to all who participated.

RCFC Open team has announced Shaun Peace as the team's new manager who will take over this summer in preparation for the Fall 2007 season. Shaun will also manage the new coed team.
Peace takes over from previous manager, Mike Hundley who has managed the Open team over the last 2 seasons, helping the team achieve runners-up spots in division 1.
The men's 30+ also sees Christian Falyar back at the helm, and Winston Lucombe remains manager of the men's 40+.

RCFC win Indoor Championship

The RCFC Men's Indoor team won Open B division championship this week. They stormed to victory with a loss-less season.

The Wolf's finger is back

After a long absence from between the posts, due to injury to his fingers early in the Fall season, RCFC's 30+ keeper, Wolf is back ready for Spring 2007.

In order to afford the cost fo surgery for his new bionic finger players' fees for Spring are expected to be inreased by $5 !!!

Game on! City teams meet in cup clash

An RCFC win is guaranteed in the 2nd round of the CVSA Cup, as RCFC division 1 team take on RCFC Masters on Sunday 3rd December 2006. The Masters team earned the tie after their huge giant-killing win over division 1 team, CLG Flames. RCFC 1st division had a longer path by beating veterans team, Sounders, and then 1st division Hawkeye in a play-in game to reach the 2nd round. A good game is expected and all friends and family are invited to come along to cheer on both RCFC teams. Both teams to meet up at Extra Billy's after the match.
Mid-season status

The Women's team are the best RCFC performing team, sitting in 2nd place in CASA Women's, with a performance of won 5, lost 1, tied 1.- Men's Open (1st division) are still battling for a top half placing but have tied too many games, with 2-1-3.
- Men's 30+ (Masters) have 1-6-0, and have been unfortunate to lose manager and goalkeeper, Wolf von Duerkheim in the first game, and then replacement keeper, Rik Taylor broke his arm in the next game.
- Men's 40+ (Veterans) have 1-4-1, but have missed the presence of keeper, Ivan Azzuro, for several matches.
- The men's 30+ indoor team proudly sits top of the table with 6-1-0, and looks likely to win the league. They will then compete in the playoffs.
- The men's 40+ indoor team have not fared so well - no wins so far.
Men's 30+ off to winning ways - win 2-0 v Big Nasty

This evening match was 0-0 at halftime, with both sides hitting the woodwork. John Andruss scored midway throught the second, on an assist by Drew Belcher. The team played defensively the rest of the way, and Tim Beczkowski scored a late goal on a counter attack.
Hundley becomes Men's Open manager

Mike Hundley has been appointed manager of the men's Open team playing CVSA division 1 this Fall season. Previously Mike had managed the summer Open team, and Open team for the Neptune Soccer tournament this summer.
Men's team compete in Neptune tournament

RCFC sent a men's team to VA Beach to compete in the annual Neptune Classic 11-a-side tournament. Over the 3 games, City won 1, and lost 2. A fun weekend was had by all players. RCFC competes in various tournaments throughout the year in addition to playing the regualr spring and fall seasons.

Rumors are true - Taylor is out and Von Duerckheim is in! Yes, Wolf Von Duerckheim has been appointed the new manager of the Masters 30+ team for their Fall 2006 campaign. Rik Taylor revitalised the Masters team in Spring 2006, and expectations are now high for the new manager. Masters team page »
Roster finalized - Neptune tournament

The RCFC roster for the Neptune Classic tournament, 5-6 Aug in VA. Beach is now closed. A few new players were added today, following trials at RCFC Stadium in Richmond. Now just requires final payments and double-up on hotels......more »

Despite losing one game and having to forfeit another, City finished strongly in the spring league to come out on top, based on goal difference. City qualify for the playoffs and meet Monacan in the semi-finals on Wed 24th May.

Open team knocked out of Cup

City were unlucky to lose 3-2 to Premier side, Fan Rats, in the quarter-final of the CVSA Cup. RCFC Open team were 2 goals down but dug deep to take force extra time. City had the chances to win the game, but the final goal went the other way. A good run in City's first CVSA Cup appearance.
